Purpletone scarf and chat

This is my every day scarf I made for me. I have started and taken apart 4 scarves for different reasons..my purple one I did not have enough yarn, but I do now..needed the needle so I took it apart..my aqua, was ready to bind it off last night and realized it was way to large for the slit I made..somehow I added more cast on stitches than I wanted..so I took it apart...had my other niece's hot pink half way done and made a mess of it, probably because I was doped up with pain killers..never do this again...so I had no choice but to take it apart..lol so you can I have learned to play and learn..
I hope all of you reading my blog have had a wonderful Christmas..I was totally depressed because I am the type that I think I have to do every thing to make every one happy..but being laid up I learned a great lesson. I do not have to be the one to make every one happy but as a family we make each other happy..they did not need me to make them happy..just being together and doing what we do on holidays, being together and enjoying each other's company..My sons, mom and dh all pitch in and made the dinner while I was stuck on the couch, knitting..and I just did not let it bother me because it was beyond my control..it all was great.
Dinner was great, every thing tasted good. I did on Christmas morning baked some stuff but with the guidance of my dh..making sure..lol
I received two different types of knitting looms..one had 4 rounds ones in different sizes..by all means, this will not take away me knitting with needles..I do have and had for many years a knitting machine..never been used yet..but might want to now...I will try anything. I received some money and gift certificate and an Ipod nano..I now need to get online and get some music..so I did pretty good...besides what my dh lets me buy what I want through out the year..so I always have Christmas..I am lucky.

My Nieces scarf

This is for my niece, Tara Larsen. It is really really pretty. I loved working with this yarn. It is called VooDoo by Patons. The color is suede. You have a 20 inch length of yarn, that looks like a shoe string and than 4 inches of the yarn. I took two photos to show how it knits up and one with it in the slit...I bought me enough to make me one the Ruby color. The scarf took 3 and a little bit of the 4th. It took me about 4-5 hours to make it too, It is also called super bulky..which I did not think so... I think this will look very classy for a working girl. Finally have one of my Christmas quilts hanging..he did this while I was asleep last night and put it in the wrong place, but not complaining, at least it is up..It is huge..

My Burnt Tea Kettle

This is what you get when you do not think things through...I put the kettle on to boil some water for my tea..usually I use the microwave and do not know why I did it differently...I did not put the whistle part done so I never heard the pot..I was watching a funny Christmas show, Christmas in Connecticut and was so involved in it and knitting..till the smoke alarm went off...not sure how long it was burning..but had to be some time...I just love this kettle and the NEX base had only one left..so now will try to find another one like it..I see a lot of enamel ones and had one before and do not like them..so have a safe holiday!! hugs, Lorraine

Christmas Fabric post card from my sis, Patti

I received this fabric post card from my youngest sister, Patti, yesterday, It is so pretty. She said she bought the two fabrics at Joann's about 3 months ago..I have never seen the "Believe" fabric at all...what one can do with that one..Thank you sis...I love it..and know that who ever you sent them to, did too..Merry Christmas..

Christmas scarf for Patti

I put away the other two so I could do this one today and mail it out tomorrow. This is a two tone green with silver mettalic. it is much darker than what shows here and could not get the ture color...I started it late last night and finished this about an hour ago..Now it is packaged up and ready to go with dh to the mail...we print our own postage and put it on our enevelopes and just dropped it off at the PO. I sure hope you get it on Tuesday so you can wear on Wednesday...keeping fingers cross.
Well, my knee went through hell this morning..It was hurting that bad but after today I am back on the cold and hot treatments again. I will find out when and if I need surgery next week Tuesday...
I cancel the two classes I signed up at QU and will take them later one..when life is a lot better around here..
I can not believe I burnt my new teapot..I was in involved in a movie, Christmas in Connecticut with Barbara Stanwick and Dennis Morgan, it was funny and tape it on a DVD for next year..The pot turn an awful color and all the plastic melted right off...I was boiling water, people, water..but I loved this teapot and hope I can get another one like it..I did not hear it whistle because I forgot to put the whistle part down...I can not believe I have done this..
I will try and decorate the tree tomorrow, put up a quilt if I can on my walls..I am doing this for me as it seems no one else cares..but I do and I was getting a little depressed over it and figure I love it and will do it for myself..
My little sis, Patti sent me my very first fabric post card today for this year...I do not think remember getting or making one before I shut down my post card group in April..it a long time ago for me..lol I will scan it tomorrow and put it here...thank you sis, do I miss doing fpc sometimes..but not that bad to make one..Have a wonderful weekend doing your last minute shopping and be safe..lots of hugs, Lorraine

I want to start by saying thank you so much for keeping up with me..it is very much appreciated by me..

I went to see Dr. Fly yesterday and he is sending my to get a MRI on Friday this week. Than I take what they do to Dr. Fly on Dec 23 to see just what I did to my knee.. He said I could have torn a cartilage and I am to use a brace..the brace and I did not get along so I am using a wrap..lol When he pushed on the spot that really hurt, he was a lucky Dr., he hurt me so bad that I could have kick him..

Even though things are bad right now, as I can hardly do anything...My tree is still not decorated, no quilts are up on the walls, no cookies are baked..I still have the spirit..I can not help that my sons and dh has not helped me..it is for them anyway..so if they can't help me, it just won't get done..it is not worth the pain or being laid up in bed..I always like to past things forward to make others happy and sometimes that is when I believe I try to hard and end up hurting myself..I am told by all, not to worry about it..but I do...

I always put up my wreath on my door first..that is not even on my door...oh well..I do wish all to have a Merry Christmas....even it is not visible..

I have been knitting more scarves and having a ball doing it..I have used all types of different fiber yarn..trying to figure out the gauge on each different one.. Some yarns are a bit harder to get on the needle but when they are so pretty, I can not stop..lol

I am working with two different types right now..one is called Cotton Candy by Yarn barn ( a turquoise) and the other one is called Boucle Traditions Brushed..called Grapetones..this yarn has knobbies and very thin fibers..when I get to the thin part I feel like it is going to break on me but hasn't yet..

I bought quite a bit of yarn yesterday to practice..the one I was looking for so I can have that for me for a scarf , they no longer carry it and all I needed was about 2oz..of it..I am going online to see if I can find it and buy a lot of it..I would like to make shawl for out of it..I am designing it right now..if not..well, I find something else.

I did get to do some laundry, can't reach inside the washing machine so I am using a back scratchier, thanks sis for the idea.. I am tempting on trying to bake something..make the house smell like Christmas..

I sent no cards out this year...so if you are a friend or a part of my family..you know now why you did not receive one from me...I wanted to make some fabric cards but have not been able to use the pedal on the sewing machine..who would have thought that..left foot I still could be sewing away and finishing all the other quilts and my vest..so I will knit..lol We do not buy cards so had none to send out..but there is always a first time for everything..

My son, Mike, finally got a job..he has been off work since May, he has his name all over Memphis..can you believe not even Crystals hired him..it is bad really bad..We have been helping with his bills..I know if he had and we did not he would be there for us..I do not expect any of what we gave him back..Part of life when you are a parent.

I ordered the Wham Christmas CD, Edge of Heaven, thank you Michelle for letting me know the title and verse..I also ordered another Wham CD.. I had to go to Amazon and order it under the used CD..there were 3 people trying to sell that CD for 36 dollars and change..I got mine for 9 dollars and change, it was mailed out yesterday morning...

I went and looked at Malibu's yesterday on the way home..Oh they have my color, Silver Moss..I was so surprised the the shift is on the floor, but the guy said it is better for you arms and hands..I used to have a Pinto that was like that and my Citations..it has every thing..told the guy I am going to buy one but not at this time and I only buy if they have my color..it is running now to 17 thousand..I am waiting for it to go lower..he said the best time it right after Christmas and New Year..so maybe I will get it then..but it might be even lower in January..we will see...thank goodness I do not need it now..I can wait....I won't be able to drive now with my leg so..I have plenty of time..

What kind of car do you drive...I am wanting the best car..but I think it is a Volvo..but they above my means of living..lol or is it a Volvo..I want it to last me the rest of my life on earth..lol

Another split scarf done and chat

This is the fourth split scarf I have done in a week..I sent the purple one to my mil..and made this one for me..will make another purple tonight. I did not add fringe on this one as I do not think it needs it...It took 4 skeins to make it..I had to take this apart 3 times to get the right size I wanted..but it is also not an east fiber to knit..It has two strands of different fiber and also has the bumpy fiber along it too..but done..Now I am decided what I want to make...I might try smaller ones for my nieces but not sure..

I am suppose to go to the Dr. Fly tomorrow for my knee. I just got a call saying if the kids are let of school, I will have to reschedule my appt..I wish it won't come..we are expecting freezing rain..so far I do not see any...I hope they miss us completely..I am still suppose to call the office to see if all the workers made it in..and if they are closed I just the next day and make another appt...boy this is going to be fun, isn't it...oh well..I did wake with more pain this morning and I could not see how...I was doing so good yesterday..the weather..for sure..

Sisters split scarves done

The burgundy scarf is for Mary (Adkins), my twin, and the green scarf is for youngest sister, Patti (Johnstone). I did these two together on the same needles so I would finished them the same time..I use to do that with sweaters I knitted, I would do a sleeve, body, and sleeve..I love doing things this way..I have knitting for 41 years, started in my late teens..I love to knit..I am now going to make one for my mother in law...Janet. I am also going to do another one for me...till I find out what is wrong with my knee..I have tried to dabble with the sewing machine but having to use the foot peddle does not help my pain so no sewing for now..
The shot lasted a day and half and been on pain pills. but I am slowly trying to go off of them as I seem to sleeping an awful lot with them..maybe this is good but maybe not either...so I only I have two days to worry about what is wrong..I hope you all had a nice week and an even better one this coming week. lots of hugs, Lorraine

Split Scarf finished and chat

I just finished this about an hour ago.. It measures 32 inches long and about 10 inches wide. I made my longer and wider.. It fits just wonderful..do not have to worry when I bend over the whole scarf will come tumbling down, now.. I already started two more on the same needle for both of my sisters...one is burgundy and the other dark green. Wool yarn,,,

Doctor's appointment yesterday:
I was in and out of the doctor's in an hour and half and even had x-rays on my knee, two shots and plenty of blood taken from me...My Dr's other patients were not done for him to visit and I was..lol great for me..my x-rays did not show any fractures or broken bones..so I get to visit the orthopedic Dr on Tuesday next. Dr. Manese believes with the severe pain that I was in that I have tore a soft tissue in my knee...my cartilage I think.. I had a flu shot and all my regular routine done..When I got home I felt no pain anywhere on my body..it felt good till I started to feel kinda funny and went to bed...I slept 5 and half hours and went to bed at midnight and still slept till 630 this morning..I only have a slight ache in my knee and no severe pain today..but I haven't taken a pain pill yet..and probably will in a hour or so as I really do not want to feel the pain if I do not have to.
My home is a wreck, as I cannot seem to doing anything..My 4 foot tree is still not decorated. cookies are not being made..suppose to have help from boys..if I waited for dh it would never get done..I do not know why he does ever want to help me when it comes to anything Christmas..
I finished machine quilting the monster of a quilt, Bargello Twist..I have never and I mean never broken a needle since I have started quilting 5 and half years ago and this quilt made up for it..broke 2 needles and bended on..oh I was mad..having those quarter inch strips and all the bulk in the back even if I ironed it the way I suppose to, it was a very hard quilt to machine quilt..so far all my machines do not like going over thickness of fabrics..sooo now I just have to add the binding and walla it is done.
oh I have meaning to let you all know that if you have direct TV turn to channel 822 Holly station and you can hear Christmas music all day..like I do till dh comes home.. I usually bring out all my CD about 45 of them and have to keep on changing them and a lot of the music is what I have..but not all..like my Hawaiian Christmas tape.. My CD player plays 5 CD at a time. My favorite every year is one that I do not have. Wham singing oh forgot the title but she gave him away on Christmas day..lol sorry..I just love George Michael's voice..any way till next time, take care and lots of hugs, Lorraine

Finished Quilt Winter Bargellos-chat

Here is my Fractal Winter Quilt. I finished both of these two weeks ago but this is the first time I have been able to post them. below is my snowflake design I machine stitch on it.

This is the Winter Bargello that we do in class, without the fractals..On the outside I did what I called stick snowflakes, below...lol This now belongs to sis, Mary Adkins..and she loves it.

A lot has happened to where I was not able to post in the two weeks. First I was so busy cleaning this house for Thanksgiving..top to bottom and somehow hurt my right knee..not bad but enough that it ached all the time..Went shopping on Black Friday and Sat..Saturday night getting read to go and visit mom..I turn around and my right knee did not move with my body and the pain was horrific and I screamed and dh came a running...I could not step on my leg at all..I really wanted to see mom..so somehow my dh and I managed to get me to the his truck...well, I had a hard time walking to mom's door..we were there for about a half hour and the pain was so bad we had to come home...started the ice and heat treatment for a week now and I ended up on the walker till yesterday I got to use my cane again.. I am praying that it is not a torn cartilage that will require surgery, after all my left knee never healed right and been on the cane since...so hopefully that I have just sprained some tendons...keep you fingers cross as I have a regular check with my Dr. on Tuesday and will have xrays done.

So I have started to knit a slit scarf and almost done..tried to finished my wrapagan but it was just heavy for me...I have been machine quilting my Bargello Twist since I have hurt my leg..slow going as it is the right leg that i need to push the peddle..anyone tried using there left foot..lol I wanted to get all those quilt tops that I have made done before Christmas but do not know if I will..

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, we had a wonderful day and we even tried deep fried turkey, it is so good..next not sure I missed the dressing that we make inside the bird...but dressing was good..

Black Friday we went to the NEX like we have for the last 3 years...we were told the wrong time..it was at 4am and not 6..so we did not get all goodies that were really discounted...but still managed to find some good deals...

I am busy but nothing right now to show and chat

I wanted to let you all know that I am still kicking it up..lol
I have been busy pinning, basting and machine quilting..I am not down to 5 quilts to be machine quilting..than we have that binding..oh this takes time..if any of you have a easier way to do this by hand let me know..lol not by machine it looks ugly in the back.
I have finished one quilt..my winter bargello without the fractures, this I will send to sis..I added snowflakes with the cross and x's..to the border..lol an easy one..
Than I traces some beautiful snowflakes for my winter fractured bargello and now it is ready to sew, binding.. I also did the spring..in case I do not get back to the others, my spring can go up when it is spring time..need to sew the binding that is pinned..so now I have two to sit and watch TV and bind away.
I am now machine quilting my oriental baby faces from Karen Combs Treasure Boxes I did about 4 years ago..I am stitching in the ditch, well not exactly..about 1/8 of inch away from that and it has taken me a very long time..as it is patchwork..gee I did not remember doing patchwork but guess I did, not the greatest as the lines do not match in every square and I am not going to point them out to you, lol
Computer:
I am still waiting for my computer..took it in 2 weeks ago Sat..called Sunday and they said I lot of spy ware and could cause some problems..now how did I get that much spy ware when I only used my computer for two weeks..he mentioned Trojan horse and etc..I want you all know this is not covered in the warranty and we have to pay #130.. my dh said yes to do it so I have a great working computer..well, called Monday they were still scanning..called Wed and they had been scanning..and was at 18 percent..they are doing all types of scanning and getting rid..now what guarantee do I get that it does not come back..oh well, just want my computer back..
A Grant I applied for:
I applied and payed to get a grant. I talk to the person for a long while yesterday...I paid $69.99 for this..well what I want to do is build a building for my studio in the back of my home..so I am not using up a lot of the rooms here..and do not know where my son will end up..still no job.
I told them I would need some help in setting it up and doing a 5 year plan..well. after she took all my finances and personal info and making sure I have never applied for a grant...she told it would cost me $4,300-$8,300 and it all depends on what I do..I would need to spend 5-10 hours a day by myself doing a plan..than get their advice and need I tell you all, I am still not approved for the grant but would guarantee if accepted to even do any of this..Now we do not have credit cards, they are paid off and yes we still have a couple each...I told I do not have that kind of money and did not know if I wanted to put it up till I see a guarantee first before I do..well I could not get one..and she also said they take credit cards...I just came out and told I will not use my credits cards as we got rid of them so I would not have during our retirements in about 5 years.. She tried again and told her no..and than she, than this program is not for you..and I said, you are damn right and too bad I had to pay to find out about it..so fair warning to all..I bought that book that is advertised about 20 years ago and it did not help us at that time either..and I know I won't bother with it again..so a grant is suppose to free and it is but no one told me I had to pay to get it!!
Dryer:
I did get a new dryer..but guess what, the door on the dryer is so large we can not open it with our bifo doors..boy that door is huge, you have an inch on each side..so now I wash on Fridays and take the door down and put it back up when I am done washing, till I figure out what to do..It is the utility room, only enough for a washer and dryer off my dinning room and you know I do not want to look at it..it is ugly..so now we suppose to be discussing what is the alternative will be but all we are doing is fighting about..not worth it..So I told him I will settle for the bamboo shade and can pull it up and let it down..than I can paint something on the bamboo..now this sounds like fun..I can not put a the doors that were there as I can not have my baker's rack on the wall..the door would not open..I thought of accordion doors, dh does not like it, than sliding doors, he does not like it either-how lazy, you have to slide the door to get to the dryer..well, who does the laundry..he does even so often, when I am mad at him and I will refuse to do anything for him..yes, I do this..childish but it works..lol Anyway I am curious what we will end up..just think this is where I put all my Christmas cards..
So today I am hoping with what time we have left they will call about my computer..Soon I will have photos to put on my blog..lots of hugs to all and have a great afternoon and evening. Lorraine

Holly Leaf quilt is Finished and chat

I finished machine quilting with meandering small stitches to puff up the holly leaf and it does. I finished this last night except for the binding which I did this morning. I will add plastic white hooks to the back and use a brass or gold rod to hang it...if I was going to enter this in any shows I would add a sleeve, but when I do not have I do not..lol I hate doing them and the binding part of the quilting process, but always nice when done with the binding..I used Yemet gold/green metallic thread for the meandering. Fairy Frost mint is the back ground fabric. A ribbon type fabric is the binding..I ended up having to cut these by hand so I could match the lines. I love this type of quilting. Dh called Best Buy this morning and they were working on my computer and already had changed the memory chip, video card and do not know what else..but they will call when they are done..so looks like I might have my computer back next week sometime...

I now have to get ready as my dryer motor went out and going to buy another one..SEARS of course..they have always been great for fixing things when they go wrong..not sure if it will be a Kenmore and will buy a 5 year warranty too. lol have a great afternoon and evening, hugs, Lorraine

Christmas Couch Throw and Digital Script Pen-chat

I just finished machine quilting this couch throw for Christmas, in the making for over 3 and half years..now I know why it never made it to be machine quilted..I will never make another traditional quilt for any bed or couch again. I had to wrestle this thing and have the shoulder, wrist and arms with pain..boy..It took me all of two days..and I am not good at stitching in the ditch either..never done that before.. Pinning was a chore too....gosh I am just glad it is done...and believe it is not of my best works...but will say it comes close to the second bottom of my list..but it is pretty where it is..for the holidays..I wash all my fabrics before using them and with this red backing, my gloves are a tinted pink.. I noticed that with my green too did the same thing with the fan art quilt I did below...of course I did not watch it washing and did not it still would have run..oh well..This will be washed before putting it away..and it just end up being a holiday quilt for Suzie...lol One more to go..my Holly Wreath and I have accomplished what I wanted to get done before tomorrow..I should that little quilt machined quilted tonight..I hope any way..well I still have all day tomorrow..I have a house to clean and some baking to do...before Thanksgiving so I need to start now..I use to be able to do these domestic things in less time but not any more..My mil use to warn me and now I do know what she was talking about.

I bought this because I am always sketching and have so many journals and sketch books and I just do not have room for them so I bought this as a gift for me for Christmas..lol You do your sketching or writing on any pad and than download it to the computer..

Haven't heard a word about my computer..Best Buy has not called us yet and when dh gets home I will have him call them.

My dryer died and my son came and picked up my on load that I did..today is usually laundry day for towels and sheets and maybe a load for me..but only one load done..so that means it will pile for me unless my son doesn't mind picking up my clothes and drying them for me..also have my youngest and we have a key to his house..lol I think it is the belt as the dryer won't move at all..and forgot I had in on and about an hour later I heard it click..so it sounds like the belt to me..dh can fixed that.. Holly Leaf quilt finished in the middle with Ruth Blanchet

I could not sleep last night so I finished my Holly Leaf quilt middle section. I use some trim I have had for over 8 years on the edges of my bows..looks like some I have in my drawer stash of ribbons...I used Angelina fibers with red tulle for the red balls. Than I couched red candlelight as the outline of the balls. It was so much fun to do and it is so sparkly and pretty.

Last night my dryer make such a racket and than did not work. Dh turned the circuit breaker off and turn it off again..it has some sort of protection thing on it..It came back on and still made the racket..So he did some turning on the wheel and it worked..I was going to wash a couple more loads today but will wait till he comes home just in case..I can wait for the year 2009 to roll in..It has been on large roller coaster ride for us this year...Have a great evening, hugs, Lorraine

Finished my Baltimore Basic quilt by hand

I finished this tonight and it was fun to say I really like hand quilting when you just do not want to sew on the machine. I took this class in 2005. All I had to do was hand quilt it...I did not put a border on it. Below is a close up. I was so excited today when I did the rocking motion and did two and three stitches together...I keep with the two stitches as the doing 3 was hurting my palm with the hoop..I think it made it more fluffy than the middle when I did just one stitch at a time..One day in the future I just might make about 4 of them with different themes on them..I believe I have a book on these types of quilts. I am just going to add white plastic hoop on the back, I usually do when a quilt is this small. It measures 15 and half square.

Finished Fancy That Christmas Art Quilt and closeup

Finished this tonight. I added 4 hoops on the top and will use a gold rod to hang this up..I had this already in my computer and with dh wanting the computer, I decided to put the bottom on. I had a hard time working with this thick felt or whatever you call it. but to me it looks good. I used fabric red and gold ribbon and folded in half and sewed it on the machine. I was very very close to the backing..I use the same type of fabric for the hoops but in red and sewed a couching stitching on the sides..The hoops are about 3 and half inches wide. whew. another one done..lol

Gee I do not have to go anywhere to have some news..lol so much happens around here and there are two of us living here!!!

We received TWO video cards yesterday and the computer only worked for about 15 and dh turned it off and restarted it about 20 minutes later..it came on but was doing horrible..then it went..turn it off and waited another 20 minutes and this time he did a diagnostic on it and it said it was the memory card..we have 3 of them on my computer..So he took the tower to Best Buy and guess it has a warranty and they will fix it...I could have taken his new gun to his head for not doing what I wanted to do..I told him next time this happens I will hail a cab and do what should be done..take it back to where you buy it!! Anyway it is over and in about 5 days I will soon have my computer up and running..I think..it might take longer for them to fix the tower..but they will be able to tell me what is wrong with it..

Dishwasher is hooked up and it has a little tiny leak and he will fix it tomorrow. This is the longest running dishwasher we ever had. The full load runs one hour and 45 minutes and the load I will use runs an hour and 15 minutes..oh well, I love it anyway and we have a 5 year warranty on it..lol have a great Sunday...hugs, Lorraine

Finished Christmas Table Runner

The first photo is a little bit closer..it was hard trying to get a really large photo of the table runner..maybe if you click on it, it might not sure..the second photo is the whole table runner..It is really pretty..took long enough to do the binding..

Received two video cards and it still does not work for me to use it..dh did get to to run it long enough to do a diagnostic check and it says the memory chip is gone..wow I wish it would make its mine up..anyway it is going to Best Buy tomorrow..

My dishwasher is still in the middle of living room....kinda hard to walk around...

I am now working on the large Fancy That Christmas quilt with the scene in the middle..I could have done it instead of the binding but had to think on how I am going to machine quilt it..I do not want that much stitching showing on the green where it might take away from the quilt pattern itself..so decided today to do an echo around the wedges in the middle and corners..and probably put some sort of design in the middle of the sides where there will be more green showing...so hopefully I can have most of it done tomorrow...You all have a great weekend..I know I am going to try...

Machine quilting Ripless Christmas Tree Skirt

The above it s a close up to my machine quilting. I did it freehand as I wanted a curly or swirly look and it did not if it all matches...I like it better than if it did. Anyway did not fill like drawing the pattern..I used YLI gold metallic thread with Bottom line green for the bobbin.. I will be doing the border the same way.

This show the half way mark. I have a puddle of fabric in my lap..yucky to work with..but I am managing. It is so pretty with the gold..it really does not show up in either of these photos..I love to do this. This is the first for me in machine quilting a table runner. it is 72 inches long..for my side board..I might do the same thing with the wall quilt..I love the squiggles..lol

My dh found somewhere to email HP..he got a message saying that for sure I will receive the digital card yesterday, well it did not show up..so now I know they just tell customers what they want to hear...dh wrote him again last night. but he is going to send me the URL so I can post it every where they, people can read all the complaints about this company, Hewett Packer...enough..dh will take it to best buy this weekend..he is working late again and no time to bring it in..about a 40 minute drive for us..maybe tonight..but doubt it..

Finished satin stitching with the gold thread

I finished the gold satin stitching today. I really did not know if I would. The pain on the left hand is awful but I managed. I will maybe my Brazilian beads embroidery thread around the bow. than I think I am done with this quilt...lots of hugs, Lorraine

Above is the overall look of the quilt and you can see the gold metallic stitching. Below is a close up...I love doing this but had to stop as my wrist was so sore..could be all the hand work I have been doing and sitting here working on EQ6...It probably will take a few days to finish it...than I can continue on to the table runner from Ripless class. I also have a bed quilt, 6 place mats and a quilt from Fancy That I want to get done before Thanksgiving...I should get them all done...

EQ6 Lesson 3-chat Hewett Packer and Best Buy

There were more but put these up..the top is the label we make and the bottom is the bonus excersise..It is so much when you know what you are doing..getting frustrated is always something I did not read carefully...but once I knew what to do it was so much fun. I am not sure what is in store for lesson 4 but I bet it is going to be a bit tougher than these others..lol Of course you see I used my favorite colors..lol

Hewett Packer has not sent anything for an up date..can not even talk to anyone with our order, the same info every time..

We did go to Best Buy and talk to a wonderful person named Ryan. He helped us a lot. We are taking my tower to Best Buy to have a diagnostic done. He talked dh out of buying a video card, as he thinks it might be the mother board. They do this for free. Than dh asked about retrieving my info from my computer. He told dh what to buy and what to do..They do it for 90 or more...not spending any more money. dh did by the box and it cost another 50 dollars..so he is in the process of doing that. It can take as little as a few hours or as much as 3 days..I have waited all this time. I can wait. He also said if it is the video card, he will let us know but if its the mother board, they will force HP to fix it or give me another machine..Yeah...I will just have come into this smelly room, the mess and all..for a little while longer...but do I have stuff to transfer to my computer...

We bought our new dishwasher Sat..it will be here on Wed. We will take our out tonight and put out front..any appliance disappears in the front yard..we never have to worry about carting it away..lol

I bought a lot of supplies that I am running out..it was good to get out. Of course i bought stuff that i did not need either..always do..lol Have a great evening. I am going to sew on the machine today as it is time to play with my new baby...Janome 6500 here I come..lol I also want to get some of these quilts out of my way...hugs, Lorraine

EQ6 Sampler lesson 2-Video Card-Hewett Packer HP

These are the two projects we worked on in lesson two...Fran gives great direction....so when I kept on making some mistakes, I though it was my computer only to find out it was me..I did the top one 3 times..before realizing what I was doing wrong..but at least I found it myself..I love this and it is fun

Chat: Hewett Packer has not sent my video card yet, so dh called them today and let me tell you all , we have date of Nov 12...my dh got so mad and told them what are they trying to do here and why the part has not come in..Than they told my dh to take it back to the store... He wanted to speak to someone else higher than this person and he got a lot of excuses and no phone number..they are beginning to sound like other discount stores that does the same thing..I will find out some how or another...but the best I can do is added to my blog and let others know how they do their customers..Than my dh called Best Buy and guess what, they would NOT have helped me either..you only have 14 days to return something that is broken or does not work..after that you have to go the manufactures..my computer broke 2 and half weeks after we had it..so now what are going to do..we have to buy one video card our shelves after purchasing a $1,000 dollar computer...This is not right!!!

Celtic table runner-book-chat

New book I received about 2 weeks ago and had not had a chance to put it in my blog. So far I have just glanced at it and so did my dh so I think this book is going to a very used book. Digital Essentails written by Gloria Hansen.
Above is a close up of my Celtic Runner Table Runner, a class taught by Nancy Chong. I blieve there is one coming up this Friday at QU. Below is what it looks like completed with all the appliqueing done. I am going to hand quilting on this piece first, reason I went ahead and finished it even if I had the tuplips and bread fruit ready...

I am suppose to go and pick up my sunglasses this Sat but dh has to work. It has been ready for almost two months..I off course did this on purpose to see they would call..I for sure am not in a hurry for them as I do not go anywhere..so I called yesterday and the receptionist is no longer there and Mrs. Reed and I had a long talk about her..she was responsible for a lot of the orders on my glasses that is why they always had to go back in...anyway I will call tomorrow to see how I can get in there and pick them up and make sure they fit properly...we have been in and out since Dec of last year....

My video card has not come in and no word or email either..we are going to take it back I guess Sunday I am not sure when..at least they are open in the evenings..but I can not wait forever for customer support who is not supporting me...so hopefully in the horizon something good will come out of this mess.

Dishwasher is broke so we are looking around and boy the prices sure went up and all the do dads they have one them is one reason..I just one that will wash and dry them..I have not been without one since 79 and won't stop now...so we are trying to find one without all that new stuff..more than likely a Kenmore...we have one now..the replaceable part is going to cost $200 so we might as well put in another couple of hundred and get a new one.

Tonight I will relax and do nothing else..Hope every one has a Happy Halloween. this is my least of holidays..lol

Classes in spiral blinders-new chair and lamp

Here is my new chair and lamp, both are Thomasville and maybe more money that what you would pay for but worth it for me...the lamp was very expensive but if you look at it, it can move from one chair to the other without moving it around from the bottom..Has a high and low light switch..It is very heavy..My chair is a recliner and love it for relaxing from working with the other chair...and of course my laptop caddy...perfect place to enjoy doing what I enjoy doing, quilting.

The upper black spiral binders are what I have done plus about 20 on the second shelf....I would not do any quilting and or come online till I was done doing this task..The tool for pushing down and making the holes in the paper was tough but got it all done. I had classes to bind for the last 2 and half years..whew..glad this is done..it also took up spaces on my shelf that I wanted back..for more containers..lol

My Canopy in my front yard

This is the Canopy my dh put up last weekend with the help with my sons on Sunday to put it up..it has been to cold for me to sit in it..but when it warms up I will for sure be in there..hoping to do some hand quilting or appliqueing under it...This is a closeup and the bottom is the view from my fence.

My finished hand quilting sampler

Here it is my finished hand quilted sampler for Nancy Chong's Hand Quilting class. I do not like white, whole cloth, quilts so I used watercolors with chalking to get a pastel look. It looks a lot better on my designing board than here.. My dh and sons just did not like the white either..they all asked me if I was putting something on it and I say no it is done..so they might like this better..at least it has some color in the middle. Now I can finished up some other quilts that I have to machine quilt, satin stitch, and also get to know my new machine..it is will be 2 months on Wednesday since I bought it..lots of hugs, Lorraine

Miscellaneous photos-threads for new class

These are oriental crackers I found at the commissary. I did not know they had them..we use to eat these as kids in Hawaii. I took this photo to show my sisters as I am sending them a can. They have seaweed wrap ones and seaweed mixed it some of them..very good for a diabetic..lol but the peas, they go in the trash...has horseradish on them and as very hot..lol

These threads are for a new class with joggles with Sharon Boggon called Sumptuous Surfaces which stars on the 28th also bought some linen..I am looking forward to it..we are suppose to start of with neutrals but I am not..I like color period..Have a great evening and Sunday, hugs, Lorraine

Here are my fabric choices for my tree skirt class

These are believe or not all that I had left over in yards or a little less to do this class so I used what I had. I do not think it will be that bad..but not going out and buying any more till next year..lol I have use most of Christmas fabrics with the projects that I have done this year..so this is good. Instead of putting up two huge boxes I will be putting one up with scraps of the fabrics...so I am glad i had them..the only ones left with yardage or yardages is my sheer with different designs on it and I did not like them mixed with these..The blue snowflake is the one I am not happy with but when it is cut up it should not be that bad and it is a tree skirt and will not be hardly seen anyway..Does it look that bad, do you think I should go out and buy another print to add and take away the blue? have a good day, so far I have not received in my email box a notice from HP saying there is a delay so I should get my video card this afternoon..Or I will SCREAM!!! and you all will be able to hear me, lol hugs, Lorraine
