Update on magnet bookmarker/Exchange one to one

I tried to cover the magnet with fabric but than it would not magnetized through the fabric. But it is really not that ugly inside, just sewing lines , I used poloyester invisibe thread so did not have the color of thread showing which might have looked better..so do what you like and you can make a dozen in one sitting...
Anyone want to do an exchange with me just leave a comment and we will exchange one on one. hugs, Lorraine

Magnet Bookmarker a new exchange

My sister, Mary ADkins, sent this neat bookmarker she bought when she went on vacation to Cypress Gardens a few months ago. So I asked my group if they wouldl like to try and make one but out of fabric.
This is what it looks like opened up from the top. sorry about the glare, this day I could not take a decent photo without glare..too many lights around that was on.
This is what the inside looks like.
These are mine that I made, I had only one to make but made one for myself...I wanted something bold and bright. I cut up the parrots..and made them to fit the size I choose..2x6 inches. I did not add the magnet yet as I wanted to scan it and not use the digital camera today. The inside looks terrible and am trying to figure out how to cover up the sewing lines..so I am going to experiment with fabric over the magnet and see if the magnet will still work on both ends with a book..If not it will have to look terrible..but than we know we have to use card stock for them. I do not think the magnet will hold onto fabric for a long period of time as it would on card stock, but than I could be wrong. Only time will tell on that one..lol

Fabric cards swaps done

The first two is for Abstract Christmas, I used the new fabrics I had bought when I could not find my Christmas fabric box. I made a circle, triangle, square, rectangle and sewed them randomly..added a few beads and sequins..and Teddy Bear Christmas, an easy one, added beads for one tree, only have one person for this one.
I made a collage of Christmas trees for this Christmas tree swap..used foiling to add red to dots on the tree.
This is for another swap group I am on. For a candle swap. Used large and small ribbons. Added beads and sequins and than made it into a shaker candle..love doing this..as everyone has so much fun once they received them.
This is for the same group above for a regular Christmas card..of course my shaker cards..added star shapes with silver foiling..added loose glitter and beads for the shaker part.
I have been making cards since I finished the notebook cover..I am all done with fabric pc swaps but still have a bit of different of exchanges to do..

Muse Me Notebook Cover done

I finally finished the notebook cover for Ellen in a UK Embellish group. Boy did I have fun doing this...I hope your like it Ellen. It will go out in the mail on Sat if dh does not work or if I can get dil to take me to the post office. The word on the left side says "dream". I also have the word "inspire" and a musical note added on there..What would we do without our muses..this is the theme I wanted to do..I had all types of saying but having to cut all it out, Muse Me just called me...I used black felt, a rather larger piece than you buy at Walmart. I felted the fibers over the whole thing. Than I felted her with other fibers and the words..sewed it down with holographic pink thread. I made the letters kind of funky and I like the looks of it. I than made a polymer clay face, painted it metallic gold. I knew I wanted wire for hair so I used the ones that come in a package of 16 and they are soft. The only problem I did not know for sure how to attached it. I used the glue gun after I laid the hair in place and right away put her face on and afraid it ran on the outside of her face but really not that noticeable, this is the only thing I regret on this cover...I than sewed the fiber off on hand. I added some tails so you can keep your place in your notebook.
I have to let you know what our post office is doing to us here in Memphis. Last year, a thief stole the stamp machines in a few places, machine and all. Well, they took them out last week I think. So now I have no way of getting stamps till Sat when dh is home, as their working hours does not coincide with dh..In another part of town, they added a stamp machine and you can only use a credit card. the people are complaining..Hello there, it is better than nothing..I would love for them to do that here in my part of town. Always something with the post office. I am going to be glad when one day I do not have rely on them for their services..they I believe think they know they got us and doing what they damn want too..MO..Every post office is not run the same way. I get this from all over with the groups I am in..I think they should be. One will not put a pc with a plastic sleeve in the their meter machine and charge you more, even if it by the standards of the rules. Others will. I know it is the clerks that work at the post office. So everyone is always confused on what they can do If I had my twins sister problem I would get someone to take me to Tampa and complain...This is all MO. my opinion. so comments ok..

What Sis sent me yesterday

Sis sent a very large box. I did not take photos of everything..but these pieces she made me I did scan. The bracelet you can buy as a kit from a discount store...and I love the ornament and light clasp.. the earrings, she did not know what to do with them..so sent them to me just straight and I added the hook and made them swirly..thank you and wore them both till I went to bed...
Sis, also sent me a shawl..I get cold. It is so pretty one in a peachy color, 2 snowflakes, she made a gold and silver beaded ones, a pretty pin to wear...some Christmas ribbon, some fibers, a metallic red sheer, she did not know I had already, some bottle caps, soda can tops, crochet hooks P and Q..boy is that P huge, wonder if I can crochet with it..lol purple nail polish, yeah, a purple hat..I have been collecting all the colors, the ones you buy at the Dollar tree..all I need is orange and black..lol and what ever else they come up with...
I wear all that I make as much as I can. I dress for myself and no one else. When I get up I see what I want to put (beside my clothes or nightgown, lol) I will pick up a pair of earrings, bracelet, rings and necklace..and wear it all day. It makes me fell good. If I do some painting I will remove what I think would be ruined. Do you wear your jewelry even if you do not go anywhere? I could be down in dumps and seeing my jewelry one makes me feel a lot better. I also wear my diamonds around the house too, this makes me feel like a million bucks!! lol
